River’s Gift pledge to save the lives of infants across the globe, by delivering evidence based safe sleep education and funding world leading SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) research.

During 2018 River’s Gift, in partnership with Soteria Safe Sleeping Advice, Safe Sleep Space and Monash University conducted research of over 2000 parents/parents to be nationwide. It was discovered that overwhelmingly there was a significant gap in safe sleep and SIDS education.

“We need to educate people. We need to create behavioural change to save babies lives”– Karl Waddell, River’s Gift.

We were thrilled to launch our industry leading Safe Sleep pilot Education Program at Epworth Geelong, Geelong Hospital and Goodstart ELC in May 2019 with an aim to have a nationwide program from 2021.

In educating parents, grandparents, healthcare professionals, childcare workers and caregivers on the key principles of infant safe sleep, the external ‘stressors’ associated with a Sudden and Unexpected Death in Infants (SUDI, which also includes SIDS) can be identified and eliminated, helping significantly reduce the number of fatalities in sleep
